- Prepare the Glass
- Place the large ice cube in a rocks glass.
- Mix the Drink
- In a mixing glass, combine bourbon, maple syrup, and bitters. Stir gently for about 20 seconds until well chilled.
- Add Smoke (Optional but Impressive)
- If using wood chips: ignite a small piece and trap the smoke inside the empty serving glass using a coaster. Let it infuse for 30 seconds, then pour the cocktail in.
- Garnish
- Express the oils from the orange peel over the glass by twisting it between your fingers. Rub it around the rim, then drop it in.
- Serve
- Serve immediately, savoring the aroma before the first sip.
