Ingredients
Method
- Directions
- Preheat the Oven
- Set to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9×5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal.
- Mash Bananas & Mix Wet Ingredients
- In a large bowl, mash the bananas until mostly smooth. Stir in melted butter, brown sugar, eggs, vanilla, and sour cream until combined.
- Add Dry Ingredients
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Gently fold into the wet mixture until just combined — don’t overmix.
- Make the Chocolate Swirl
- In a small bowl, mix chocolate chips, cocoa powder, brown sugar, melted butter, and milk until you have a thick, glossy paste.
- Layer & Swirl
- Pour half of the banana batter into the pan. Add spoonfuls of the chocolate swirl mixture and gently swirl with a knife. Repeat with the remaining batter and swirl again lightly.
- Top & Bake
- Sprinkle coarse sugar over the top. Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean (a few moist crumbs are perfect).
- Cool & Serve
- Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Slice once fully cooled for the cleanest swirls.

Chef’s Tip
For a bakery-style finish, drizzle melted chocolate or caramel sauce over the cooled loaf. You can also fold chopped toasted pecans or walnuts into the chocolate swirl for texture.
